Droid2

A beta version of a new softbreak is available here.
If it works out it is made publically available.
The l/p is beta/beta.

[Update:]
It has been confirmed that the exploit is working on the
backflip and evo too. Thats not surprising,I always
said it will work on the backflip :D
I just wonder what all these timing discussions are about.
The exploit is doing everything alone by itself,
you do not need to "exit" or kill the adb session.
Just execute it and wait until connection is reset by
exploit. Then adb kill-server; adb shell -> #
Thats not too complicated.

Works great on latest droid 2 software! Thanks so much for your time! I'm completely broke but when I get some spare cash, going right to you buddy :) XDA-dev thread encourages donations to you as well. Thanks again.

Will this not work for 64 bit Windows 7 ? Or do I need a 32 bit operating system?

Works great on my droid2. (Using the slightly differently packaged version from http://alldroid.org/Default.aspx?tabid=40&g=posts&t=809)

Awesome work!

Just reversed the binary exploit. Very clever work, Sebastian!

Read about your efforts over at ModMyMobile.com and decided to give this exploit a shot. I'm using the Motorola Backflip and the instructions worked up to (but not including)mount -o rw,remount /dev/block/mtdblock1 /system
When running that command I get the following error message: mount: Operation not permitted.
Guessing because I never got the #, just the $. Let me know if you need any more info! Thanks for the effort!

Users @ M3 (modmymobile) are reporting the exploit does not work on the backflip. Personally I have not tried the exploit but will try to recreate it on my own backflip. Thanks.

Great release, I have a Telus branded HTC Hero w/ kernel version 2.6.27 (built Aug/2009) and exploid seemed to be unable to trigger the udev NETLINK vuln on this phone, however I was able to obtain root using the rageagaintsthecage binary, very interested in seeing the source for it.

Need anymore information to add to your list of working/not working devices, I'd be more than happy to help out.

Thanks again for the time and effort put into these softbreaks.
